Channa Masala: This recipe is famous In Punjabi Cuisine blended with boiled Chickpeas then cooked in Masalas garnished with Coriander leaves. A Punjabi Recipe

Ingredients
  • Chick Peas - 1 cup
  • ( soak in water overnight for 7hours)
  • Onions chopped -1
  • Green chilies chopped -3
  • Tomatoes sliced -2
  • Ginger garlic crushed - 2tsp
  • Channa Masala powder - 2thsp
  • Cumin powder - 1tsp
  • Black pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Amchur powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Sugar - 1tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 2tsp
  • Ghee / Butter
  • Salt
  • Coriander leaves few
  • Potli :
  • Cinnamon -1
  • Cardamom - 1
  • Clove -2
  • Tea bag -1
  • Bay leaf crushed - Take a muslin cloth add above whole garam masala ingredients make a potli keep aside.
Directions
  • Step 1 First step take the soaked channa add salt, potli,little sodium bicarbonate mix well pressure cook with 4 whistle (depends)
  • Step 2 Allow to cool keep aside.
  • Step 3 Take a pan add ghee/butter/oil 2 thsp then add cumin seeds allow to splatter then add onions, green chilies, sugar fry for 3 minutes then add ginger garlic crushed fry in medium flame for 3 minutes.
  • Step 4 Next step add the dry Masalas Channa Masala powder, cumin powder, black-pepper powder,amchur mix well add 1 cup of water along with little salt and coriander leaves cook until oil oozes out.
  • Step 5 At this point discard the potli from boiled channa add the chick peas to the gravy mix well cook for 5 to 6 minutes in medium flame.
  • Step 6 Then finally add little butter along with sliced tomatoes close the lid cook for 2 minutes and garnish coriander serve.
  • Step 7 Note : Discard the Potli after pressure cook the chickpeas.
