This famous Street food Appetizer snack recipe is from Andhra Cuisine blended with Jalapeños coated with batter outer layer inside stuffing is done in unique way deep fried in oil then added with onion topping to get Cut Mirchi Bhajis.

Ingredients
  • Jalapeños (Chili Peppers) - 10
  • Onions chopped-2
  • Red Chili powder- 1/2 tsp
  • Chaat Masala powder- 1/2 tsp
  • Batter:
  • Gram Flour- 1 cup
  • Baking powder - 1 /4 tsp
  • Salt - 1 tsp
  • Water - 1/4 cup
  • Oil - deep frying
  • Stuffing:
  • Roasted Gram / Dhalia powder - 3/4 cup
  • Tamarind pulp- 1/2 cup
  • Carom Seeds- 2 thsp
  • Red chilies powder- 2 tsp
  • Salt - 1 tsp
Directions
  • Step 1 First step clean the jalapeños wipe with paper towel allow to dry completely.
  • Step 2 Take a sharp knife make silt in the jalapeño discard the seeds with help of sharp edge spoon as shown in video slowly discard seeds completely. Repeat the process for all the Mirchis.
  • Step 3 Take a bowl add roasted Gram powder, tamarind pulp, Red Chili powder, carom Seeds and salt mix well with the spatula make sure no lumps in the mixture keep aside.
  • Step 4 Take a Jalapeño add the stuffing by a spoon transfer on a plate repeat the process for the rest of the chili peppers allow the stuffed peppers to rest for 30 minutes.
  • Step 5 After 30 minutes take a wide bottom pan add a generous amount of oil keep flame in medium.
  • Step 6 Take a wide bowl add Gram Flour, baking powder, salt mix well with your hands make sure no lumps are formed then add water slowly to form smooth texture batter use spoon or spatula for batter mixture.
  • Step 7 Now take each jalapeño one by one mix in the batter coated uniformly as shown in the video drop in oil cook for 7 to 8 minutes in medium flame.
  • Step 8 Stuffing also got to be cooked well so got to be patient (important)
  • Step 9 Keep tossing slowly the Mirchi with a spatula to cook evenly in all sides with color and texture.
  • Step 10 After Mirchi Bhajis turn brownish in color transfer on paper towel.
  • Step 11 Plain Mirchi Bhajis are ready for serving.
  • Step 12 For Cut, Mirchi Bhajis make silt in the middle of cooked Mirchi add onion stuffing.
