This recipe is very famous in South Indian cuisine blended with Shrimp ( Prawns) cooked with masalas served with White Rice, Rotis and Naans .

Ingredients
  • Shrimp- 2 LB
  • Red Onions sliced - 1
  • Tomatoes chopped - 1
  • Green Chilies sliced - 2
  • Curry Leaves - few
  • Dry Red Chili- 3
  • Coriander leaves- few
  • Ginger Garlic Paste - 2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Fennel seeds - 1 tsp
  • Cinnamon-2
  • Cloves - 3
  • Green Cardamom - 1
  • Red Chili Powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder- 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 2 tsp
  • Curry Powder - 1 tsp
  • Garam Masala - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt - 1 .5 tsp
  • Gingerly oil - 3 thsp
  • (Sesame oil )
  • Water - 1/2
Directions
  • Step 1 Take a wide pan add gingelly oil 3thsp allow it to become hot then add mustard seeds allow to splutter.
  • Step 2 Next step add fennel seeds. Cardamom, Cinnamon and Cloves keep stirring with spatula for a minute.
  • Step 3 At this point add sliced onions, curry leaves few fry for few seconds then add green chilies fry until for 3 minutes onions turns soft and translucent.
  • Step 4 Tomatoes sliced is added to the mixture along ginger garlic paste 2 tsp ,turmeric powder 1 tsp and salt 1 tsp mix the ingredients fry until the raw smell leaves. Close the lid cook in medium flame for 3 minutes.
  • Step 5 Next step remove the lid the tomatoes turned mushy as oil oozes out at this point add dry masala powders coriander powder, red chili powder, cumin powder and curry powder mix all the ingredients well cook until the oil oozes out from the masala mixture.
  • Step 6 Clean the shrimp in water drain out water add shrimp to the masala mix well with spatula.
  • Step 7 At this point cook the shrimp coated with masalas for 5 minutes then add water 1/2 cup , salt 1/2 tsp , garam masala 1/4 tsp , red chilies and curry leaves few mix well close the lid cook for 3 minutes in medium flame.
  • Step 8 Next step remove the lid oil oozes out from the prawn masala add coriander leaves mix well cook for 2 minutes.
  • Step 9 Chettinad Style Prawn Masala Curry is ready for serving with White Rice 🍚, Rotis and Naans .
  • Step 10 Note : Shrimp releases water so don’t add excess water while making this curry .
